1920 – The founding of the company Boretius
The history of the Boretius company goes back over a hundred years and begins in 1920 in Königsberg, East Prussia.
Wilhelm Boretius, together with Mr. Rösler, laid the foundation for our company by founding Rösler & Boretius. Originally conceived as a wholesaler for upholstery fabrics and upholstery materials, our company offered a wide range of high-quality materials that were in demand in the furniture and upholstery industry. Even in the early years, our company distinguished itself
through their expertise, their product diversity, and the high quality of their goods. These values continue to shape our company today and are the foundation for the long-standing success story of Boretius Ateliers.
1946 – New beginning after the Second World War
After the end of World War II, Wilhelm Boretius faced the challenge of rebuilding our company. He refounded the firm in Baden-Baden, laying the foundation for a successful new beginning. Despite the difficult post-war years, he managed to continue the Boretius Ateliers tradition and maintain his dedication to the industry.
1976 – Handover to Ulf Boretius
In 1976, Ulf Boretius, Wilhelm Boretius' son, took over management of the company. From then on, Boretius Ateliers offered not only upholstery fabrics and upholstery materials, but also a comprehensive all-round service for curtains. This expansion of our portfolio enabled us to provide even better customer service and offer customized solutions for textile interior design. Under Ulf Boretius's leadership, our company continued to grow and solidified our reputation as a competent partner for high-quality contract furnishings.
1982 – Expansion and specialization in hotel chains
Our success grew so rapidly in the early 1980s that by 1982, the first luxury hotels were among our loyal customers. To meet the growing demand, we built a large and modern sewing studio in Iffezheim and relocated our headquarters there.
We increasingly focused on furnishing hotel chains. This specialization enabled us to develop and deliver customized textile solutions for hotels. Collaborations with renowned hotels and the continuous expansion of our portfolio confirmed the success and trust we enjoy in the industry.
1995 – The third generation takes over
In 1995, Kai Boretius, the third generation, joined our family business. He focused on individualizing our services and ensured that our company continued to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
1997 — Today
In 1997, Kai Boretius founded BON Boretius Objekt Nähservice für Dekorationen GmbH. That same year, his sister, Tatjana Boretius, took over human resources and accounting, bringing her expertise to our company.
In 1999, a new property was acquired in Baden-Baden / Haueneberstein, where a state-of-the-art sewing studio has been in operation since 2000.
We have now established ourselves internationally and furnish properties in countries such as Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, France and Italy.
But despite all the expansion, one thing remains constant: our strong core of outstanding employees. They form the foundation of our company's success and ensure, every day, that every project meets our customers' expectations.
